People, Why do you suggest marriage counseling in abuse cases?…? In order for counseling to be effective, BOTH parties have to go and have to WANT to change. Just like alcoholism. In 99 percent of the cases you give “counseling” as an answer, it will be wasted money. Sorry, that is just the way it works. However, if you can get him(or her) to agree to really try and change then by all means go to counseling. But in cases of abuse it will not work. Counseling is NOT suggested for BOTH of them, rather for the one who is being abused, to build up the strength in themselves to get out of the sitation.

Marriage counseling is the WORST idea when there’s any sort of abuse in the picture. Go no further than the newspaper to see what’s happened to some victims of marital abuse… maybe even go to their funeral.
